I have been seeing and reading a lot lately about women and our bodies and how we are expected to look and feel about ourselves and I just wanted to put in my two cents.

It is a topic I struggle with because I am one of those women who as low self-esteem and I find it hard to feel good about myself. Whether it’s because I don’t feel pretty enough, skinny enough, rich enough, travel enough, so many things that circulate through my brain daily that make me feel that I am just simple not good enough.

In the society that we made for ourselves, we have put a huge amount of pressure for us to look a certain way and if you don’t then you are ugly or poor or fat or all of the above. We have put that pressure on ourselves and on others.

I for one know that we shouldn’t feel that way but that doesn’t stop me from hating on myself or putting down others to try and make myself feel better, I know I shouldn’t do it but it is how we have grown up and we are just looking for ANYTHING to make ourselves feel better.

But with all of that being said (even though I probably won’t take my own advise) just know that you are enough. You are enough to the people that love you and really, isn’t that all that matters. We don’t need everyone to love us and those who don’t, have their own set of issues. I think it is important for us to stop criticizing ourselves and others and instead lift each other up, support and help each other to make us all feel good about ourselves.

We can so easily be pulled into dark, lonely places. But if we look and the good instead of the bad then maybe we can build a better future for ourselves and the for the young girls out there. Everyone deserves to feel beautiful, happy and loved.
