Lots of drinks, laughs, food and dancing. The Swedes know how to have a great time even though some of the things are quite funny like the "frog" dance around the Midsummer pole. I definitely want to experience more of these in my lifetime. And if you have not experienced it but are going to or wanting to, I know it's a long ways away but here are a few things to remember.

1. You have to drink (and I mean a lot). We were served Skåne which you take in shots and not just a few shots, lots of shots.

2. Associated with the shots above, you will also have to sing because before they take these shots they sing little songs (drinking songs) and again they will sing later on as well.

3. Traditional Swedish food will be served which includes meatballs, cheese pies (which are amazing) and lots of fish in a variety of ways. I quite enjoyed the food but if you don't like fish then that is not so great.

4. The Midsummer pole needs to be dressed with flowers before you put it up. They had flowers and twine gathered so we could spread flowers heavily on the pole.

5. Dance. You must hold hands and sing and dance around the pole, don't worry its not hard, you will just feel a little silly jumping like a frog, but its okay because everyone looks funny doing it. And its a good time so it's okay.

6. Then just get ready for a long night of partying.

So if you can handle these things then you will do just fine and have a fantastic Midsummer!!!

xoxo
