Wednesdays Wishlist - Wardrobe Staples for transitional weather

As we have talked about before, building a perfect staples wardrobe can be difficult (especially if you don't have a money tree in your backyard) and it can be hard to find those pieces that you have been missing and really need to help build up your closet. So I thought I would tell you some of my picks especially for the transitional weather that is inevitably coming our way. So let's do this...

1. A black leather jacket - This item is the ultimate cool girl piece. It is a piece you can wear over a jeans and t-shirt or a dress and it just adds an extra something to finish off the look. I suggest a longer, maybe a bit more oversized but whatever your style is, whether its cropped or a different colour, this it definitely a staple piece you want to add. You can find an investment piece like this Isabel Marant one or more budget friendly ones like here and here.

2. V neck T-shirt - This is probably one of the items that I use the most in my wardrobe. With that being said though, I don't own enough. A t-shirt like this can go with almost anything and you can't go wrong with this, a lace bra and jeans. Chic yet comfortable. Again you can find cheap versions here, or go for more expensive ones here and here.

3. Cropped skinny jean - Jeans are my go to items. there are so many different styles, they are super comfortable and never go out of style. But my recommendation for the perfect pair of staple jeans would be the cropped skinny jean. They are super flattering with the cropped length, you can wear them with anything, dress them up or down. You can get any colour but a classic blue would be my choice. Them some here and here.

4. Sneakers - I can not live without sneakers and I can't give them enough credit either because not only do they look cool with any outfit but they are so comfortable for our feet (thank you). For the last few years sneakers have been the most cool thing to wear and wearing them with dresses and skirts have been some of the funnest outfits. I could live in sneakers everyday and every girl needs to have at least one or two great pairs in her wardrobe to help complete that total look. These are a staple any any wardrobe for sure. Not to mention, they are good year round. My favourites are here, here and here.

5. Low heel ankle boots - Another great shoes you can't live without especially when creating a perfect staples wardrobe. These shoes can take you anywhere from taking a stroll, to a job interview to an evening outfit. It's another shoe you can wear with anything. I have been craving a pair from Acne Studios like these for such a long time. But other great ones are here and here.

6. Medium size black shoulder bag - This is a key item and you can find lots of different styles. One thing about bags though is that it probably is better to invest in a good quality one like here, here and here. But if money is an issue you can find cheaper yet still great bags here and here. It is important for it to be that perfect medium size, not to big, not to small. Best with a shoulder strap as well so that this bag can take you from day to night. Also try to find one that has a been more structure and shape with simple details. I really like the idea of this dream Celine bag of mine above, with the slick style and zipper front. Super chic yet perfect for everyday use.

7. Simple accessories - Adding a simple long gold necklace or a classic watch can really pull an outfit together. Pairing either of these items with the items above like the v neck t-shirt, skinny, a leather jacket and sneakers and you out the door. Do not under estimate the power of a great accessory. I am not much of an accessories girl but you should at least have a few simple staple pieces that you can add to any outfit like this, this or this.

8. Great underwear - Wearing proper, comfy underwear makes all the difference. Your not going to feel good in any outfit if you have to keep picking at your underwear or if your bra straps keep falling down. When it comes to bra, having a pretty lace bra that you can show off a bit in your outfits is definitely a must. It is like an accessory, sometimes it just adds that extra bit of something. I really like this one. Also if you have a small bust (like me) then its way better and comfier to wear. As for underwear, you can never go wrong with basic cotton under like Calvin klein.
